Examining Market Dynamics and Manufacturing Scope

Abstract

Southeast Asia has substantial potential for developing a comprehensive battery value chain, thanks to its rich reserves of critical mineral resources and the keen interest of global industry leaders in establishing local manufacturing capabilities. Notably, numerous downstream players, both domestic and international, engaged in cathode and cell production have expressed a strong desire to develop manufacturing facilities within the region. Some noteworthy examples include VinES in Vietnam, LG, CATL, and POSCO in Indonesia, EVE in Malaysia, and DuraPower, Energy Absolute, and Gotion in Thailand (as illustrated in Exhibit 1).
