Deadline extended: Call for Papers - for Vol. 1, Issue No. 1 (2021)

2021-02-22

The United Nations formulated five basic principles that fit into all SDGs, the “five Ps”: People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace, and Partnership. They are understood as a five-dimensional model of sustainable development but also to measure progress towards Sustainability. Each SDG can be categorized in one dimension:

  • People (End poverty and hunger in all forms and ensure dignity and equality): SDGs 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5;
  • Planet (Protect our planet’s natural resources and climate for future generations): SDGs 6, 12, 13, 14, 15;
  • Prosperity (Ensure prosperous and fulfilling lives in harmony with nature): SDGs 7, 8, 9, 10, 11;
  • Peace (Foster peaceful, just and inclusive societies): SDG 16;
  • Partnership (Implement the agenda through a solid global partnership): SDG 17.

It is Ironic that the world/countries have been unsuccessful to achieve the 2020 targets of the SDGs. Therefore, a relook at the development and dissemination of the SDG policies, research, advocacy, education, capacity building, is called for to rethink the ways SDG activities are curated, communicated, and contested; further reestablishing new partnerships and collaborations.

For its first number of the Connection for sustainability Journal (CSJ)we invite an article on “The five Ps of AGENDA 2030”, and their inter-connections with SDGs both at the theoretical and practical levels. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • The relevance of the “five Ps” for the implementation of the AGENDA 2030
  • The multiple connections between the “five Ps” and the SDGs
  • The key targets and indicators that reveal the interconnections between the “five Ps” and the corresponding SDGs
  • How the “five Ps” can be visualized in real-life situations and best practices
  • How multiple stakeholders (Governments, Businesses, NGOs, Institutions, Citizens, and more, in general, the Civil Society) develop strategies to progress on SDGs based on the “five Ps”
